Skin
infection surrounding the eyesocket in a patient with AIDS (Periorbital
cellulitis in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome:
A 32-year-old patient with a weak immune system presented
to his doctor with fever and swelling and redness surrounding
the right eye. Solitary, oval, violet colored nodules were seen
on the right cheek consistent with epidemic Kaposi's sarcoma (a
cancer most commonly seen in AIDS patients). Periorbital cellulitis
as suggested by this clinical picture in a patient with AIDS is
most likely from an extension of sinusitis. (L.S.)
