Scratched
conrnea/tissue that covers the central portion of the eye (Corneal
abrasion): A 25-year- old man presented with pain and a feeling
that something was in his eye. Fluorescein (a stain which is taken
up by injured areas of the eye) staining demonstrated an oval-shaped
area of uptake consistent with a corneal abrasion. (L.S.)
