Safety pin in
the esophagus (Foreign body in the esophagus): A 34-year-old
resident of a state mental institution presented with a history
of reportedly having swallowed a safety pin during a scuffle with
a caregiver. The front to back radiographic
view of the neck reveals an open safety pin just below the
level of the muscles of the voice box. (L.S.)
