The use of these combinations are currently being studied. In the GUSTO V trial reteplase was compared with half dose reteplase plus abciximab and showed no significant benefit or inferiority (17). ASSENT -3, however, may suggest a worse outcome of the combination of half dose tenecteplase and abciximab in elderly patients (18). Although an efficacious combination of these agents will likely be discovered in ongoing studies, data do not support giving these drugs together outside a research protocol at the present time.
