CONTINUED PATIENT COURSE The patient is given 80mg enoxaparin (Lovenox®) subcutaneously and is held overnight in the ED. The night passes without incident and at 8am she undergoes a duplex study of the right lower extremity. The study reveals a deep venous thrombosis that originates in the calf and extends to the popliteal vein. There is no clot detected more proximally. It is accepted that "proximal" DVT carries a significantly greater risk of embolization than "distal" DVT. Does this patient have "proximal" thrombosis?
