Robert
A. Richman, MD
Dr. Richman
has been a Professor of Pediatrics for the SUNY Health Science
Center at Syracuse since 1988. He directed the Division of Pediatric
Endocrinology there from 1976 to 1998. He graduated from Brandeis
University in 1962 and received his medical degree from SUNY
Syracuse in 1967. Dr. Richman completed an internship in Pediatrics
at.Boston City Hospital (l968) and completed a Pediatric residency
at: Mt. Sinai Hospital (New York) in l969. From 1969-1971, he
was an NIH Trainee in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University
of North Carolina Medical School.
Dr. Richman
served in the U.S. Air Force as Chief of the Department of Pediatrics
at Shaw Air Force Base (l97l - l973). Subsequently, he completed
an NIH Special Fellowship in the Department of Physiology at
the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, during l974 -
l976. After a brief stint as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
at the University of Illinoics (1973-1974), Dr. Richman joined
the faculty of the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse.
A prominent
researcher in the area of fetal growth, Dr. Richman has published
over 50 original articles and several book chapters. He is a
reviewer for numerous scientific journals, including the New
England Journal of Medicine (ad hoc) since 1986, Pediatrics,
and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
A national leader in helping children and families deal with
short stature, Dr. Richman was Medical Director of the Chicago
Chapter of the Human Growth Foundation (1973-1974) and founder
of the Upstate New York Chapter of the Human Growth Foundation.
