The presence of intra-orbital
air is accurately assessed on CT examination. A fracture through the paranasal
sinuses should be entertained as a possible route for spread of air into
this region.

There is moderate
pneumocephalus. The presence of a paranasal sinus fracture or a compound
fracture should account for the presence of intracranial air.
