Scarletiniform rash: A 7-year-old boy presented with a 2-day history of fever and sore throat. The throat was erythematous. A maculopapular, erythematous rash of sand- paper consistency had developed on the trunk over the prior several hours. This presentation is suggestive of scarlet fever. (L.S.)
