Collection of pus and skin infection in the area around the anus (Perianal abscess and cellulitis): A 66-year-old man presented with a 2-day history of fever and throbbing pain around his anus. The pain was worse on sitting, coughing, and straining. There was evidence of a boggy feeling around the left side of the anal area (collection of pus)with a large area of redness as shown. The collection of pus (perianal abscess) and skin infection (cellulitis) were a secondary infection of a fungul infection around the buttocks. (L.S.)
