Infection of the eye from a Corneal ulcer: A 23-year- old man presented with a 2-day history of right eye pain, decreased vision, photophobia (fear of light), and redness. The patient wore extended-wear contact lenses. A 2-mm, round, poorly bordered, white infiltrate is seen at the 12-o'clock position just above the visual axis. This area demonstrated uptake with fluorescein staining that was consistent with an injury and infection of the surface cells of the cornea (protective covering over the center portion of the eye).
